Confidentiality is guaranteed, except in cases where the client poses a threat to themselves, others, or is involved in actions that violate the law.

Question: Who can receive services at the University Counselling Centre (UCC)?

Services at the University Counselling Centre are open to students, staff, and the general public.

Question : Are clients who attend counselling sessions at the University Counseling Centre (UCC) limited to officers and staff referred or directed by their Head of Department?

No. The University Counselling Centre (UCC) also accepts clients who attend voluntarily as well as those who are referred."

Question : Are clients given the opportunity to choose their Psychological Officer?

Yes. Every client is given the right to choose their Psychological Officer.

Question : Will my personal records be affected when I meet with the Psychological Officer?

Your personal records will not be affected when you meet with the Psychological Officer.

Question : How can I access counseling services from the University Counselling Centre (UCC)?

Services provided by the Psychological Officer can be conducted through:

  1. Face-to-face sessions

  2. Appointment booking using the Counselling Management System (CMS) via the link www.cms.uthm.edu.my

  3. Online sessions (Phone / Google Meet)

 

Question : Will my secrets be disclosed to the public when I share my problems with the Psychological Officer?

No. Psychological Officers adhere to confidentiality ethics. They cannot share or disclose clients' issues or problems with others without the client's consent.

Question : If I come to see a Psychological Officer for advice, will I be labeled as a person with problems?

No, because Psychological Officers adhere to confidentiality ethics.

Question : Where is the University Counselling Centre (UCC) located?

The University Counselling Centre (UCC) is located in Building D15, Jalan Persiaran Tun Dr Awang Hassan, adjacent to the University Health Centre (PKU).
